How to Make a Real New Years Resolution

New Years Resolutions encompass many deep desires. I think that our true resolutions are grounded in our deepest desires, although these aren't always spoken. I find that many spoken resolutions are based upon expectations of society, our family & friends. Quite often these expectations might be related somehow to our true desires, but why should we wish for them.

I encourage everyone to think about their New Years Resolution. Grab a beverage and step off the merry-go-round we call life and truly think about what would make your world, better for you. Make a resolution that is extremely personal, even if you don't share it.

OK, so now you know what you want, make it positive. Don't put yourself down, lift yourself up! Let's have an example. Say you have been single for a while and that your deepest desire is to share your life again, to be in a relationship. Saying to yourself you want someone to love - isn't it! You don't want a one way relationship do you? How about saying I want a wonderful long lasting relationship, with mutual respect, love and sharing of interests. Now of course that may not be your desire but an example of how to do it! A common resolution is weight - so instead of saying I need to loose weight try I want to look fabulous in a size ?? Keep it realistic.

My first reason for saying this is when you have a real picture of what your goal is - it greatly increases your motivation to achieve that goal.

My second reason for saying this is, you think about resolutions therefore they should never be putting you down, just lifting you up to where you should be.

I wish only outstanding success for all of you. Whatever your New Years Resolution is, make it great, make it yours, make it happen, YOU DESERVE IT!

Have a fabulous New Year and may 2012 be your very best year yet! x

Positively A Great Day

We all have good days and bad days. I have to admit that some of the bad days are dreadful! One of the worst things that can happen is when a day begins well, but then starts to  accelerate downhill rapidly and you can't wait for the end of the day.

Sometimes it's hard to stay positive. However when you have a really bad day, one of the things that could help lift your spirits up might be inspirational and motivational & funny messages, stories or quotes by all kinds of wonderful people. Whenever we're feeling low, turning to inspirational daily messages for a pick me up, can really make a great difference.

Positive quotes and sayings are an effective way to help you regain a positive state of mind. The idea is to repeat a positive saying over and over in your thoughts or aloud, so you will feel positive and empowered.

If you set goals for yourself then you are probably aware how difficult it is to stay motivated. Inspirational thoughts are often used to keep the benefits of your goals in your mind to motivate you to achieve your objective. So you have most likely already used them.

Imagine a garden without a gardener or seeds, abandoned. It will still grow weeds and grass, wild and rambling. Your mind without training will grow weeds too or at least negative thoughts, that will fruitfully multiply. However if you decide to feed your mind with some positive thoughts, cultivate and nurture it, it will provide the fruit for much better days.

Positive thinking is where we need to be in our thoughts, we need to feel good to achieve great things. It's not always easy, but it is necessary for the quality of life we all desire. Why not do a little search right now and have a positive, feel great day.

WHEN LONELINESS CALLS AT CHRISTMAS

Loneliness is a state of emotion none of us are immune from. Granted we each have our own degrees of loneliness & feel lonely in different situations.

I ponder these thoughts after speaking to a friend of many years this morning explaning that this was her worst time of the year for feeling lonely. She went on to explain that her family was spread far & wide and could not get together for Christmas as many families do. She had been unwell & unable to travel this year, so for the first time, spent Christmas alone. This could happen to anyone. What I found interesting was she would have been more than welcome, at my house. When I told her that, she told me she was too embarrassed to tell anyone. If only had known, I would have offered, gone to pick her up and included her in our family celebrations. Now if this can happen to a friend of many years, one I care for and contact regularly, I'm pretty sure it is happening alot!

Later today I was chatting to a friends daughter , just home for Christmas. She lives away, really only has contact with her family here. As we were talking, she said something that shocked me "I feel lonely when I'm at home, my world just isn't like this, at all". She went on to say she loved her family but felt lonely, when isolated from her friends & her normal life.

So when we are thinking of loneliness so many other emotions are attached, it can be difficult to try and nail the feeling. However I put it to you we should all be considering loneliness in the holidays, reach out a hand, give a smile or a hug. More than ever this is a time to let people you come in contact with know, they are not alone!

Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow!

Now is everything!
From the beating of my heart to the beauty around me,
Sharing moments with friends and my loving family,
Helping a stranger or giving a smile,
Just watching the sunset or a blue sunlit sky.
Now is amazing with a good look around
With eyes that can see, what some haven't found.

On to today, what can I do?
Can I change the world between ten & two,
Make someone smile or plant out a tree,
Can I turn off a light, water sparingly
Help out a stranger, lift them up to their feet,
Am I grateful enough to do a good deed?
So today, feel good with what you achieve
Now on to tomorrow & you'll see what I mean.

Well tomorrow you see starts yesterday
Because what you pass out to the world
Comes back, in a very big way
So when you are thinking "it's all about me"
Take a step back and soon you will see
That the best tomorrows mean, you felt good yesterday
You made time for others & helped in some way
So you did change the world with, "it's alright mate"
Pay it forward to others and life truly is great!

What If Thoughts Could Change The World?

Have you ever wondered "what can I do"?

What do you wonder about?

Changing the world, changing your outlook, changing the people around you, your financial circumstances?

Here's a thought, and I welcome comment.

What if changing how you looked at things, changed the way you see these things?

Do you think that this simple, (everyone can do it) action could make a better place of the world we already have?

Do you think if we saw it differently, could we then think of things to do, to make it better?

I think so! What do you think?

To Gather Together Or Not!

Is it reasonable that we seem to expect our family & the people we love to congregate together at these times? Are we truly asking too much in our extremely busy culture to try and achieve this monumental gathering?
I suppose it depends on your perspective! Are you someone who is expected to attend someplace that you'd rather not? Or are you the person expecting others to show?
It can be a nightmare for all concerned! Emotions can run extremely high, either way.
If it's a problem all getting together on the Holiday's then maybe we need to consider other times, after all, fuel goes up every Christmas & airfares. Maybe in these times of respect for personal space, it isn't even reasonable to have a family gathering at all. I certainly hope this is not true.
Personally I love family gatherings. Am passionate about catching up with the people I love, spending time and sharing activities. I find family get together's inspiring & fascinating.
In this crazy world of ours, how do we make it work?
